Chinese Lantern Plant Necklace
Chinese Lantern Plant Necklace
Physalis Alkekengi is the Latin name for the Chinese or Japanese lantern plant. These plants are related to gooseberries and tomatillos, and each contain a berry covered by a husk. As these husks dry out naturally, they appear skeletal and let you see the berry on the inside.
This pendant has been handcrafted using the pattern of a real lantern plant with an artistic representation of the veins that is hand cut with a jeweler's saw. Inside is a natural orange spessartine garnet crystal that is prong set. The petals are formed into the shape of the outer pod around the gemstone.
SIZE & LENGTH:
Including the stem, the pendant measures 1.75 x .75 in. ( 4.5 x 2 cm).
The total length of the chain is 32"- this is a very long style that hits a couple inches above the belly button for me (I'm 5'2"). Please let me know if you are interested in a shorter chain for this pendant before purchasing, though I have chosen this length because I feel it is the best fit for the piece.
IMPORTANT: This pendant is not made to be opened. Doing so would compromise the strength of the outer pod.
